Around the World in 1936.

1936: Alain Daniélou and his Swiss companion, the photographer Raymond Burnier, decide to travel around the world. The trip lasts over a year, and takes them from New York to Hollywood, from Honolulu to Tokyo, from the temples of Kyoto to the underbelly of China, from the tombs of the Ming to dazzling India, from a visit to Tagore to a stay in Benares. The historian Pierre Gaxotte asked the two companions to write a report on their trip, which forms the text of the present book, enriched by the one hundred and three drawings Alain Daniélou produced during their journey.
